Hamburg to Berlin Trip 2026

Explore the rich history and vibrant culture of Germany’s two major cities, Hamburg and Berlin, on this unforgettable journey.

Hamburg. Lübeck. Berlin. Potsdam.

Day 1 – Hamburg

Welcome to the maritime capital of Germany! After arrival and hotel check-in, we gather for a cozy welcome lunch where you’ll meet your trip lead and fellow travelers – the beginning of a week full of connection, creativity, and discovery.

In the afternoon, we stretch our legs with a 2-hour walking tour covering the highlights of Hamburg’s historic city center. Your wonderful guide will lead you through the stunning Hamburg Rathaus (Town Hall), the Börse (Stock Exchange), the St. Petri Church, and the elegant boulevard of the Jungfernstieg – with stories of trade, resilience, and reinvention along the way.

As the sun sets, we’ll board a historic Barkasse boat for a private welcome dinner cruising through the canals of the harbor. Expect glimmering waters, warm laughter, and your first taste of northern German cuisine.

Note: Even on sunny days, bring a jacket – Hamburg evenings on the water tend to be breezy no matter the season.

Meals included: lunch, dinner

Day 2 – Hamburg

This morning begins with a deep breath and creative stillness: we’ll spend three hours in the serene studio of artist Kirstin at Blaues Glück immersed in the magic of Cyanotype printing – a historical photographic process known for its striking Prussian blue hues.

Using sunlight, water, and natural materials like plants, lace, or paper cuttings, you’ll create beautiful, abstract blue-and-white prints on handmade paper or fabric. And yes – you’ll take your cyanotype artworks home as a meaningful keepsake from Hamburg.

After a break for lunch, we’ll shift back into city explorer mode for part two of our Hamburg experience. This afternoon we dive into the city’s historic heart: the UNESCO-listed Speicherstadt (the world’s largest warehouse district built on timber-pile foundations), the striking modernist icon that is the Elbphilharmonie, the historic harbor, and the beloved St. Michaelis Church, affectionately known as Der Michel.

We’ll learn how Hamburg rose to power during the age of the Hanseatic League, and how the spirit of global trade still shapes its skyline, culture, and people.

The evening is yours to enjoy as you wish – perhaps a cozy wine bar, walking along the famous Reeperbahn, or a slow dinner by the canals.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

Day 3 – Lübeck

Today we leave the bustle of Hamburg behind and travel northeast to Lübeck, once the proud capital of the Hanseatic League and now a beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our visit begins with a guided walk through Lübeck’s historic Altstadt, where the Holstentor’s iconic twin brick towers welcome us at the city gates. As we explore cobblestone streets and Gothic façades, you’ll discover landmarks like St. Mary’s Church, Lübeck Cathedral, and the Buddenbrookhaus, while your guide shares stories of literature, marzipan, and maritime tradition.

Beyond the main sights, we delve into Lübeck’s unique women’s history with a look at the Beguine Houses—religious communities for women in the Middle Ages—the Stiftshöfe, which offered free apartments to women, and the Pilgrims’ Hostel, a historic shelter for female travelers.

After a relaxed lunch break in one of Lübeck’s charming cafés, you have free time to explore, or join the group for an outing to Travemünde’s beach to enjoy the Baltic Sea. If tempted by sweets, don’t miss the famous Niederegger marzipan shop. Adventurous guests might climb the tower of St. Petri Church for panoramic views of the city, before we return to Hamburg in the early evening for a leisurely dinner or stroll by the Alster. Don’t forget to pack your bags!

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

Day 4 – Berlin

This morning we say Tschüss to Hamburg and hit the road: our private driver brings us safely to Berlin – Germany’s eclectic, creative, and ever-evolving capital. After dropping off our luggage, we enjoy a relaxed picnic-style lunch in one of Berlin’s leafy inner-city parks or quiet courtyards. Think fresh local snacks, refreshing drinks, and your first taste of Berlin’s laid-back, open-air spirit.

After we’ve refueled, it’s time to discover some of the city’s most iconic highlights. Your local guide will take you on a 3-hour walking tour, featuring treasures like the Brandenburg Gate, the elegant Bebelplatz, the spectacular Humboldt Forum, and the historic Museumsinsel (Museum Island). We’ll also pass by the Gendarmenmarkt, one of the most beautiful squares in Berlin, lined with grand neoclassical architecture.

As the afternoon light softens, after a day filled with exploring and walking, it’s time to slow down and let the city’s unique vibe wash over you. Whether sipping a refreshing aperitif at a chic urban bar, soaking up the views from a rooftop haven, wandering off the beaten path into quieter neighborhoods, or simply taking a moment to relax before indulging in Berlin’s rich culinary delights—there’s a perfect way for everyone to experience this vibrant city.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

Day 5 – Berlin

Today, everything revolves around the vibrant world of Street Art and Contemporary Art. We begin with an intimate street art tour that takes you through some of Berlin’s most inspiring urban spaces, including the legendary East Side Gallery.

The walk provides a perfect introduction and creative inspiration ahead of an exciting 3-hour graffiti workshop. Guided by experienced female artists, you’ll learn graffiti techniques and express your own style in this hands-on session.

Once your masterpiece is finished, we head to Berlin’s Mitte for a private tour of the Boris Bunker, a space where urban culture meets artistic innovation and showcases Berlin’s vibrant art scene.

The late afternoon we head to the Monbijoupark by the Spree river, where we do as Berliners do: pick up a casual drink from a Späti (the city’s beloved late-night corner shops) and toast the day with our feet dangling near the water.

Dinner tonight is a treat – we’ll head just around the corner to a stylish Levantine restaurant, where shared plates, and warm ambiance round off our first Berlin evening beautifully. The night is yours to continue exploring, or simply soak up the city’s nighttime rhythm.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 6 – Potsdam

We will travel to Potsdam to immerse ourselves in a slice of Prussian history. Known for its rich royal heritage and elegant architecture, Potsdam was the residence of Prussian kings and German emperors, becoming a center of art, culture, and political power.

Our journey includes a leisurely stroll through the magnificent gardens of Sanssouci Palace, where the beauty of the landscape and the charm of the Rococo-style palace create an unforgettable atmosphere. You will have the opportunity to explore the palace interiors at your own pace with an audio guide, discovering the stories behind this former summer retreat of Frederick the Great.

Afterwards, we head to the Dutch Quarter, a unique part of Potsdam famed for its red brick buildings and cozy streets, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch followed by more sightseeing in the area. Did you know that Potsdam also has a Brandenburg Gate?

Upon returning to the hotel, there will be time to freshen up and prepare for our farewell dinner – sharing memories, laughs, and connections made while enjoying delicious food and wonderful drinks.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 7 – Berlin

On our final morning together, we will gather for one last breakfast. This is a wonderful opportunity to share memories from the journey, exchange contact details, and enjoy a relaxed start to the day before everyone departs.
